Ok, so I'm loving this book. The narrative is easy to read and still keeps your entertained. Chapters seem to be between 5-10 pages long.
Based in Manchester, we meet Kate.
It starts out with a flashback from Kate's (the main character) days at university. There we meet Ben, Kate fancies Ben, a young funny flirtatious man. They're sat outdoors when one of Ben's lecturers spots them. Ben forgot to hand in an assignment and pretends to propose to Kate, she says no and he asks the lecturer for compassionate leave.
In the next chapter Kate is in an unloving relationship with a man called Rhys. They're engaged to be married, however, cant agree on any wedding ideas which evidently breaks them up.
The arguments, the tension and the pairs reactions to each other really keep you curious. Little by little you get to see how the beginning of the relationship developed.
We then get an insight into Kates work life. She is a journalist who goes to open court cases to find stories. We meet a young apprentice called Zoe. Kate seems to be quite impressed with Zoe due to her short hand writing skills.
Kate is uncomfortably living with Rhys whilst she looks for another place to live. Kates friend rings up during work hours to tell her about this amazing apartment which has become available in the town centre for the next 6 months. They go check it out after work and both are quite smitten with the apartment. Kate accepts the apartment.
Instead of setting hours aside to read I've been picking the book up here and there and reading a few chapters at a time. I find that reading chapters at a time and having a little break I'm remembering more about what I have read. I even ran myself a bath, lit some candles and read a few chapters whilst I was relaxing in there.
This actually sounds pretty good! I have heard so much about this book and have been putting off buying it due to the immense amount of books I own but am yet to read - I think I may just have to make the purchase. I love reading books in chapters as you said too; I find it makes books a lot more enjoyable. xx
